Guam - Guam's Senators are continuing their efforts to review the thousands of pages of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. One such senator is Frank Blas, Jr., who says he is primarily focused on health and public safety and how the buildup will specifically impact those services.

When it comes to his plan of attack for reviewing the massive DEIS document over the holidays, Senator Blas says he's looking for ways to mitigate problems and come up with solutions. . He flagged the Guam Memorial Hospital as a major concern, saying, "During the buildup there will be an increase in our number of people here and it will impact our ability to provide medical services, as you recognize with one civil hospital we have the lowest patient-to-bed ratio anywhere in the U.S.

"If you add more people into this mix it will further strain those numbers. I'm looking at how we are able to deal with this."
