Military Buildup Conference Begins Thursday
Guam - Tommorrow the 2009 island conference on public administration titled "The military buildup and beyond: Hinasson TaoTao Guahan” or “The Guam Perspective” kicks off in the legislatures session hall in Hagatna.
Senator Rory Respicio says tommorrows confernce on the military buildup is meant to gather the Guam perspective on the military buildup. To do this they've invited and included many key people within the community including speakers from all three branches of government. While the event is open to the public the media is being required to follow strict guidelines on it's dress code.
While the event is open to the public the Committe on the Guam Military Buildup who is hosting the conference has announced some strict dress codes.
Specifically the dress code bans shorts t-shirts and zoris or slippers which to an extent is understandable however the legislature is also banning the use of jeans. This despite the fact that some Senators regularly wear jeans during session. We asked Senator Respicio if this dress code would be applied to members of the public who want to attend the conference.
Respicio replied saying that no one will be outright turned away from the conference if they're wearing jeans or shorts however the media has been advised that they will not be permitted into the session hall unless they stick to their strict clothing guidelines.
