NAHA, OKINAWA PREF. – The Okinawa Prefectural police arrested a U.S. seaman Sunday on suspicion of assaulting a man on a street in the town of Chatan.
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Charles Wayne Lebaron, 22, is suspected of pushing the 21-year-old man to the ground and choking him at around 11:40 p.m. Saturday.
Lebaron, stationed at the U.S. military’s Camp Foster in Okinawa, has admitted to the charges, according to the police. He was believed to be under the influence of alcohol at the time.
